Here’s an example where you will be creating a GL_Import  by using the Visual Integrator tool. The process is shown below:

  • Select “Import Job Maintenance” as highlighted in Figure 1.

Ways I

  • “V/I Import Job Selection” dialog box will appear.
  • Here enter “Job Name” (GLIMPORT) and select “Table Name” (as GL_Acount) from the “Table List” dialog box and click “Accept” as shown.

Ways II

  • Since GLIMPORT is a new job click “yes” and the “Import Job Maintenance” dialog box would appear.
  • In the “Configuration Tab” select the File Type from the available options.

Ways III

  • After selecting File Type as “ODBC Data Source” select Data Source and enter the name of the table.
  • Next, go to the Data tab and select the field names.
  • Double click on each file, In case you want to make changes.
  • Once you double-click “Import Field Properties” a dialog box appears as shown.

Ways IV

  • Once the required changes are done you are ready to Run the job created.
  • So click on “accept”; a dialog box appears asking you to execute the job created, click “Yes” to continue.
  • Next, click on “Test” to start importing the tables.
  • In the end, an Import Summary will appear as shown in figure 5.
  • You can also view the job log.

By following the above-mentioned points you can successfully import data files by using Visual Integrator.

In the configuration tab if “Header Separate From Line Record”  is not selected, then you need not define anything in the “Record” tab except for the “Skip Record” which is needed to skip records in the source files. Skip Source Data Truncation can be selected under two scenarios-

  •   When you are Importing GL Account numbers which not longer than 9 characters including the “-” separators
  •   When you are Importing descriptions over 30 characters.
